The Geopolitical Alliance of Women is a logical continuation of successful previous social activities. It began with multi-year attempts (from 1999 to 2015) to transform the thinking system of men who make key decisions at organizational, local and state levels in Ukraine with motivation to satisfy their own interests. Active and very successful public/volunteer work on extensive training in ToP facilitation tools and participatory strategic planning, practical implementation of ToP tools in the Ukrainian business environment in the “government-business-community” triangle with the aim of involving the public in local and state administration (2011-2015) made it possible to create a team (more than 2000 ToP facilitators). We managed to launch a new trend of democratic management and leadership in Ukrainian communities, organizations, local and state apparatuses. The constant search for new effective solutions and projects to accelerate positive changes in Ukrainian society has given us the understanding that there is at least one woman next to every man who makes decisions. In the Ukrainian cultural tradition woman is the one who is the man’s main consultant and motivator of his practical actions. Our mission is to provide women with the tools, knowledge, and platforms to build and form confidence that leads to success. By influencing a woman’s thinking and the growth of her personality, we have the opportunity to obtain an unexpected positive result of the practical emergence of a human-centered model of public administration in Ukraine.

Our story began with the implementation of the Renaissance of Woman project, in which 20 women leaders – experts – helped the heroine of the project to completely change her life over the course of two evenings. The result of the project exceeded our expectations. The project completely changed all the participants of the project; 9 heroines and 25 experts. This partnership has given us a new purpose and belief that “the impossible is possible” when you are surrounded by the right people. The next project was the “Forum of Women’s Partnership”, which was implemented by women leaders of the volunteer public association “Circle of Women’s Partnership” at the Olympic Stadium in Kyiv. The forum gathered 250 women leaders from 19 regions of Ukraine. As a result of joint work, 11 working groups were created, which produced 11 new projects, 7 of which are working independently until now. The forum was created by the First Anthem of Ukrainian Women. With the participation of the Barrett Values Centre, a study of the values of women leaders in Ukraine was conducted, leading to the creation of a model that highlights their core values, leadership styles, challenges, and impact. The project Ukrainian Women is Supporting of the Activities of the UN, from which the current Organization also emerged, appeared at the Forum of Women’s Partnership  as part of the search for a solution to the participation of Ukrainian women in the formation of state international policy due to the military aggression of the Russian Federation in Ukraine in 2014. The project expanded the participation of Ukrainian women in the activities of the UN from 15 in 2015 to 100 in 2019. The implementation of the project destroyed the monopoly on the UN in Ukraine.

The project became the undisputed leader in the international women’s movement of Ukrainian women. The public project is what stimulates the office of “UN Women in Ukraine” and the state delegation that annually participates in the work of the UN Commission on the Status of Women to take forced steps that lead to an increase in the effectiveness of their work both on the UN platform and within the country. Every year, an Independent Delegation of Ukrainian Women sends a joint Stateme nt to the UN regarding the situation of women in Ukraine. We developed and proposed to the UN to make changes in the UN Charter, creating a new legal mechanism that makes military aggression by UN member states impossible and makes war an economically destructive action. Currently, the unification of women leaders from countries experiencing military conflicts is underway with the aim of creating a special working group at the UN. This year, the eighth expanded Independent Delegation of Ukrainian Women will take part in the annual session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women in New York.

The project led to creation of the Program for the Development of Women’s Leadership and Democratic Governance, which takes place in Washington with the participation and partnership of the Embassy of Ukraine in the USA. Through media activities, the project involved more than 20,000 women and men. Media support for the project was carried out through the opening of a special permanent section in CosmoLady magazine, with the aim of popularizing Ukrainian women’s business brands and the weekly TV program Women’s Gathering. In connection with the high interest of the women of Ukraine and the countries of the world in the space created in the project, trust in our activities, we decided to start the NGO “Geopolitical Alliance of Women” – a space where women can get practical experience of personal and joint growth for sustainable development of the social process of communities and the state of Ukraine.

The founding of the Geopolitical Alliance of Women was announced by Svitlana Salamatova and Natalya Kaplun on May 30, 2019 at the press conference Opening of Geopolitical Alliance of Women in the state press center “Ukrinform” and registered by the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine on 01/28/2021 (registration number 44041795).
